Job Role: Production Technician

Outline Job Description 

The Production Technician role sits within our production division as part of a wider events team at 21CC Group. The advertised position will report to our Head of Production and work on all aspects of service delivery within 21CC Productions as well as the extended team at 21CC Group. 

You will be responsible for: 

  • Preparation, installation and operation of technical services across audio, lighting, AV, rigging, power as well as special effects and pyrotechnics.  
  • Maintenance, servicing and testing of technical equipment and cabling. 
  • Specification and planning for small to medium events and providing support to managers and heads of department for the specification and quoting of larger projects. 
  • Working alongside creative teams to assess technical requirements for specific installations.  
  • Site visits to venues and client premises to assess technical requirements ahead of planned events. 
  • Liaising with contractors and other suppliers to ensure external resources and equipment brought in are properly specified and relevant logistics are planned. 
  • Creating rig and de-rig schedules 
  • Hands on site work and event delivery 

As part of your role, you will also: 

  • Assist the wider team with the delivery of projects outside your area of expertise (full training provided) as required. 
  • Prepare & maintain equipment
  • Develop technical solutions and methods of safe delivery 
  • Compile risk assessments & method statements 
  • Provide client quotes for our technical services 
  • Operate technical equipment on site 

Core Job Stats / Benefits: 

  • This is a permanent job role within 21CC Group  
  • The role is based on 40 hours per week 
  • Typical working hours out with events: 9am to 5pm Monday to Friday (flexible to suit business and personal needs). Weekend and evening event work is required as part of this role.  
  • Normally your main place of work will be from our office at Houstoun Industrial Estate, Livingston with time also spent at our facility on the Hopetoun Estate, South Queensferry and on varied event sites. 
  • Probation period: 3 months 
  • Salary: As a living wage employer, the starting salary will be around £22,000-£28,000 based on experience.
  • A more senior position will be considered for the right candidate.  
  • Holidays: 21 days plus statutory days 
  • Bonus: Annual winter bonus (subject to business performance) 
  • Pension: You will be added to the company pension following completion of a satisfactory probation period 

Essential Experience: 

  • Strong background in technical event production including audio, lighting and AV. Specialists in specific areas are welcome, however this role will operate across several departments. 
  • Experience of delivering live events 
  • Experience in maintenance and servicing of equipment 
  • Experience of successfully working within teams of staff, freelancers and contractors 
  • Experience and understanding that the industry sometimes requires heavy labour to be carried out and antisocial hours to be worked.

Other Notes: 

  • Task-related qualifications (IPAF, PASMA, Rigging, BS7909, First Aid, Telehandler/Forklifts, BPA, ASP) etc. an advantage but not essential. 
  • Experience in pyrotechnics and fireworks an advantage, willingness to undertake work in these areas (with full training given) essential. 
  • Evening and weekend working on site is a requirement of this role. 
  • Additional working will be required depending upon workload and seasonal pressures. 
  • Holidays may be restricted during peak season. 
  • This is a combined warehouse, office and event site-based role. Training will be given as necessary. 
  • A full UK driving license is an essential requirement.
