Over the weekend, 21cc Fireworks were working in conjunction Edinburgh AV firm�Metro Eccose to lay on a fantastic family orientated outdoor cinema event�in the middle of Edinburgh. The event was arranged by the�Southside Community Council to bring families together and to raise awareness of their ‘Save the Odeon’ campaign.

With all of the sound, lighting and outdoor projection systems, the set up look thoroughly professional. To add a special level of detail and to make it authentic, there were huge red drapes hung either side of the gigantic temporary cinema screen, gas�flambeaux torches marking the entrance way to the park and a Hollywood style searchlight beaming high into the nights sky throughout the course of the evening.

The event started at 7.15pm with a presentation on the original Odeon cinema followed by an outdoor screening of the Bafta award winning film, Local Hero. There was toffee popcorn and fizzy juice on tap for everyone. At the end of the film, there was a spectacular fireworks display fired from the centre of the Meadows, using explosions the same size as those used at Edinburgh Castle to conclude the show. A large amount of planning went into this event. It was hailed by the Southside Community Council as a “great success” and was well attended by the general public, including local and national press.
