Five courses. Multi-Michelin-starred chefs. Live entertainment. And dinner served beneath the spectacular architecture of Kelvingrove Art Gallery and Museum.
Beatson Cancer Charity’s Chef’s Table brought food and fundraising together for a special evening in Glasgow, with live performances and a charity auction helping raise funds for brain cancer research.
THE BRIEF
When the food is Michelin-level and the venue is Kelvingrove, the production has a fairly high bar to meet. Our job was to create an AV experience that elevated the evening without fighting for attention with either.
Lighting needed to bring out the architecture and table settings, audio had to move effortlessly between speeches and live performances, and video needed to keep guests connected to the action throughout one of Glasgow’s most impressive event spaces.
WHAT WE DID
The trick here wasn’t overpowering the room. It was making an incredible room work even harder.
Architectural uplighting picked out the building’s features, while Ayrton moving heads added depth and movement when the focus shifted to entertainment. At table level, 50 LEDJ Spectra Pinspots individually illuminated the dining setup, putting the food exactly where it belonged: centre stage.
For the actual stage, our team built a custom 3m x 4m performance area and installed a D&B audio system supporting speeches and live performances from Cammy Barnes and the Red Hot Chilli Pipers. Sennheiser wireless microphones and additional artist rider equipment completed the audio setup.
Four Panasonic 12K laser projectors and screens handled the visual side of the evening, with our crew managing camera feeds, presentation content and live vision mixing as the programme moved between dinner, fundraising and entertainment.
THE RESULTS
The finished production gave every part of the evening its moment without losing what made the setting special in the first place. Food remained the focus. Performances had impact when they needed it. Guests could follow the fundraising and content throughout the room. And Kelvingrove still looked unmistakably like Kelvingrove.
A five-star setting, with the production to match.
