Lighting Up The Norie-Miller Walk
The 21CC Events team lit up Perth’s Norie-Miller Walk in spectacular fashion last month. Once the scene was set, the public were invited to experience Perth’s beautiful riverside walkways in a new way. Over a period of 15 days, almost 41,000 people enjoyed the dazzling lighting displays as the banks of the Tay were transformed into a magical wonderland.
Themed Lighting
The planned lighting moods included theme nights, such as Burns Night, Chinese New Year, and St Valentine’s Day.
The Burns night celebrations featured sky high saltires, a lone piper, Highland Dancers as well as a fire show to entertain the crowd.
Chinese New Year was a perfect excuse to carry on the festivities with Chinese colours, lighting effects, firecrackers and Chinese arts demonstrations along the riverside.
Mid way through the event, the riverside spot was transformed into a special Magical Wonderland, featuring stilt walkers, mad hatters and fire shows.
The last weekend of the event saw in Valentines. The 21CC Events team turned the riverside walk into a special lover’s lane, setting the scene as the perfect place for a romantic walk through the park.
Making It Different
As well as the special themed nights, the 21CC Events team worked tirelessly to ensure every night the lighting states were changed. This meant the event remained fresh and interesting for returning visitors, whatever night they came back to see the lighting spectacular.
Economic Impact
Company Director, Geoff Crow was invited to speak in Perth about the event and about the economic impact of public events within cities.
At the presentation Geoff said:
The Norie-Miller Walk is a truly beautiful event. Perth has never looked so good. I am delighted with the outcome, which is recognition of the hard work and determination and dedication of our incredible events team. Perth is fast becoming a destination city and high quality events like this will continue to draw visitors to the area.
The Whole Package
21CC Events planned, managed and delivered the site plan layout, security, stewarding and power as well as the lighting and effects. The event was designed and delivered by a number of the 21CC Events team, overseen by Senior Event Producer Julie Ogilvie. Julie says:
Well done to everyone involved. This has been an exceptional and stand out event. A massive thank you to all of our team and suppliers and thank you to everyone who came to experience it.
The Umbrella Set Piece
Over the last few days of the event, the team set up a spectacular high frame and slung an array of coloured umbrellas creating a unique and memorable walk-in experience to the park. It is like the 21CC Events team had saved the best ’til last…
A council spokesman said: “The event clearly has a very broad appeal and it’s hugely encouraging to see such a wide range of people enjoying the walk and the experience.
“The economic benefit generated by successful events such as these is an additional bonus for the area as we build up to our bid to be City of Culture 2021.”
By the end of Sunday night, 40,764 had attended the walk.
